Magnetic levitation transport, or maglev, is a form of transportation that suspends, guides and propels vehicles (especially trains) using electromagnetic force. This method can be faster than wheeled mass transit systems, potentially reaching velocities comparable to turboprop and jet aircraft (900 km/h, 600 mph). The highest recorded speed of a maglev train is 581 km/h (361 mph), achieved in Japan in 2003, which is 4 mph more than the conventional TGV speed record.- Wikipedia

Superconductor: Non-contact transportation
This video describes how the cool technology of superconductors in magnetic levitation works.
This may be the transportation of the future. But cooling superconductor may cost more.

ASSIST: A Shrewd Sketch Interpretation and Simulation Tool-
Unfortunately, current computer-based design tools for mechanical engineers are not tailored to early stages of design. Most designers use pencil and paper at first, and input their design into CAD systems only after it is nearly complete. The tradeoff between the ease of drawing and the precision of a CAD tool is too great for engineers who are just sketching out rough designs.
ASSIST allows a user to sketch simple mechanical systems and see simulations of his/her drawings in a two-dimensional kinematic simulator.

Sunflower – The Solar Power
The Stirling-engine Sunflower™ concept is somewhat radical, because it is not based on photovoltaic (PV) cells and has moving parts. We believed that we could make this design much more cost-effectively than a PV-based system because it is simpler, more suitable for mass production, and uses significantly less energy in the actual production processes of the product.
